Disneyland Paris

2019

As a teacher I have always believed that one of the best ways to improve the learning in the classroom is to broaden the student’s experiences outside of it. To be creative you must open up their minds to what creativity looks like in the real world. In the past I have organised trips to work with West End performers, visited countless West End shows like ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Billy Elliot’, ‘Matilda’, ‘The Woman in Black’, ‘Hairspray’ ‘Charlie & the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘The Lion King’ (just to name a few).  I have also organised backstage tours of theatres like The National Theatre & the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and of course, I have organised 4 trips to Disneyland Paris.

Now you may ask what does Disneyland Paris have to offer a drama teacher. Well I have put over 100 students on two of their main stages and performed small shows to an international audience, part of their performing arts program. The students also get to experience Disney shows along with, of course the rides and the characters. This is always a superb trip which the students get a lot from.

After the huge success of our previous trip, it seems silly not to make this an annual event. However, I want to make the trip even more theatre and performance based so have planned a wonderful trip for October half term. We will once again be auditioning to perform at Disneyland Paris but instead of going straight there, we will be stopping by the West End for a workshop, tour of a theatre and of course, catch a West End show.
